BENEFIT FOR SABERA FOUNDATION INDIA IN SEVILLE (Spain)

Last Friday, October 6, Seville hosted a benefit dinner in favour of Sabera Foundation India at Club Antares. Almost 350 people participated in the event, including important members of the local culture, fashion, politics, and Seville Healthcare system, as well as, members of the soccer Andalusian elite. We would like to thank the presence of the owner of the Real Betis Balompié soccer team, Mr. Manuel Ruiz de Lopera; and some members of its Executive Board, and the former President of its main competitor, the Sevilla Club de Fútbol, Mr. Rafael Carrión. We would like to mention also Mr. Hermes Govantes and Ms. Ángeles Verano, a well known flamenco designer, as important representatives of Andalusian fashion.

The main goal of this benefit was to collect money to support all the activities developed by the Foundation in India, including the maintenance and building of a Children’s hospital, already sponsor by the Biomedical Company, Pfizer Spain; assistance to finance the education of the girls sheltered by Sabera, as well as, the sponsorship of all the girls.

Six of those girls travelled to Spain from India, in order to host this benefit, trying to attract as many people as possible. We had the pleasure to count on the presence of: Shampa Barui, Sushmita Das, Priti Halder, Mina Kumari, Tabassum Khatun and Arti Shankar.

We would also like to thank Mr. Surajit Sen, President of Sabera Foundation India, as well as, Ms. Mala Goswani, Mr. Partha Sarathi Mookherjee, Treasurer of the Foundation and Mr. Aryak Dutta, who escorted the girls at all times.

The dinner was introduced by Ms. Eva López, who with the help of some of his colleagues from Pfizer in Seville, organized the whole event (Narciso, Gema, Yolanda, Pastora, Rafael, Mari Carmen, etc.); Ms. López welcomed all the invitees, and introduced Mr. Emilio Moraleda, President of Pfizer Spain, and main sponsor of Sabera. Mr. Moraleda also thanked everybody’s presence at the event, and introduced, Mr. Surajit Sen, President of Sabera. Mr. Sen also shared the same gratitude towards the audience and finally introduced Mr. Carlos Durán, Porject Director of Sabera Foundation India, and the main founder of the whole project. Mr. Durán thanked everyone attending the dinner for the generosity showed by all.

The girls delighted everybody with two wonderful dances and greeted everyone at their tables, even offering the traditional “bindi” to all women attending the event.

The evening continued with numerous raffles, thanks to the generosity of a large number of sponsors. Finally, the benefit ended at the rhythm set by the D.J. at Antares.

The people of Seville bent over backwards to make sure that the event was going to be a great success, and it was. We are very pleased to announce that we collected near 20.000€, including almost a dozen of sponsorships.

On behalf of Shampa Barui, Sushmita Das, Priti Halder, Mina Kumari, Tabassum Khatun and Arti Shankar, and all the other girls sheltered by Sabera, thank you all for your tremendous generosity and kindness!
